Danielle Marcus BSc, MSc Hons

I first joined the Oundle practice in 2001 as a school work experience student. Having completed work experience I was offered the position as Saturday girl and often worked during the school holidays. In 2005 I went to study for 3 years for my first degree in Bioveterinary Sciences at the Royal Vet College London. I thoroughly enjoyed my degree and whilst studying decided a career in scientific research was what I wanted. After graduating with a Bachelor of Sciences degree I was lucky enough to be offered a job as a research assistant for a cancer drug company in Cambridge and spent 3 years helping to develop new cancer drugs for people.

In 2011 I decided it was time for a change I missed meeting new people and wanted to start interacting with animals again so I left the ever changing world of science and accepted a full time role at the Thrapston Surgery. I really enjoy my role at the Thrapston surgery especially meeting all our lovely clients and their pets in addition I really enjoy helping to develop and maintain our online presence and have learnt a great deal about website development since joining the practice and am really excited about the future of our online business.

I have also just gained a Masters Degree in McTimoney Animal Therapy after 3 long years of studying alongside my full time job. I’m currently very busy in my spare time trying to build a business using my McTimoney Therapy for both horses and dogs experiencing musculoskeletal problems.

When I am not busy working I have 2 horses loa and Mango whom I ride regularly and aim to start competing Lola later this year.. I also have 2 dogs Lewi and Pepsi both can often be seen at the Thrapston Surgery behind reception trying to help. Lewi and I attend weekly agility lessons and hope to one day attempt a competiton. I spend any remaining spare time baking cakes and bringing these into work for everybody to try and love trying new recipes and ideas.

I joined the Oundle Veterinary Surgery in 2005 as a part-time receptionist after being a client for several years. I enjoy meeting the clients and their pets and helping with advice on the  general well being of their beloved friends. My husband Sam and I have 2 cats named Tabitha & Sabrina & we often look after Natalies dog Hector when her and Andy go away. We love taking him for long walks and for days out on the Norfolk coast which is one of my favorite places to visit. I also enjoy cycling, theatre trips, shopping with the girls ( not hubby ), meals out, gardening, keeping fit at the gym and as many holidays as I can manage to fit in, hense why I work part time!

I've had a love of animals from a very young age where we always had a dog as a pet.  Moving into my own home I had 2 kittens within the first month and the brood continues to grow 12 years later with 2 labradors and 5 cats...I keep saying no more but I'm very easily swayed! Living in Oundle with my 2 young boys, you can often see me being taken for a walk by my two dogs Poppy and Monty or enjoying a meal in Dexters. In my spare time I like to head to the mountains to explore different hiking trails and in the past I've done bigger challenges by climbing Kilimanjaro and trekking to Everest Base Camp for charity, my next challenge is to hike across Southern Iceland in two days in 2016.  I write frequently about by adventures on my blog Adventure Mummy click here to have a read.

Having a love for animals is the perfect background for working at the Oundle and Thrapston Vets. I studied at Moulton college over 20 years ago and have worked in various equestrian establishments ranging from backing youngsters in Southern Ireland to grooming at 3 day event level I now enjoy my own horse, The Moo. Together we love the countryside, jumping and cross country training. I also have my Parson Russell, Jip who loves a long walk followed by a sleep on the sofa

Having been an animal lover all my life, I was excited to start working here in 2014. It's incredibly interesting and rewarding and I enjoy meeting both clients and their beloved pets.   Outside work I love being outside and enjoy gardening and long walks. I have 3 cats and a Jack Russell called Millie.  I live with my husband just outside Thrapston and have two grown up daughters.  You may have seen me at Oundle or Thrapston as I work part time at both sites.
